Hello
My name is Emma, and I am the business owner and creator behind Robin’s Jewellery.
Since 2013 I’ve been a stay-at-home parent living in Hampshire in the UK, with my husband, our two crazy children, and a massive ginger cat, that doesn’t really like me.
So what’s the story?
How did I get to creating my own business??
Well, in 2022 at the age of 45 I found out that I have ADHD, and weirdly that changed my life and attitude to everything.
I finally found out why my brain works the way it does and this knowledge lead to me not only receiving medication but also clearing some space in that head to be able to focus on what I wanted to do with my life.
The big question, “What do you want to do when you grow up?”
Well, I still don’t know, but making nice jewellery to make people smile seems a good thing to do for now.
I have always been a creative person, colouring, drawing, card making, knitting, crocheting, sewing, making things with resin, if there’s an arts and crafts pastime, I’ve probably tried it.
I started simply making resin earrings for myself, but I received so many positive comments on my creations, and so many people asked where I had got them from, that it began to occur to me that maybe, just maybe, I could make things that people might want to buy.
I can work from home, I can fit my hours around having primary school aged children, and I can do things my way, without having to worry about how my adhd might affect my way of working, because I’m my own boss.
I also liked the idea of helping people to express themselves.
I was lucky enough to grow up in a house where we were always allowed to be ourselves, whoever those selves were at any given time.
And that brings me to…
Why Robin’s?
My dad. My wonderful, lovely human being of a dad.
Always accepting, always giving people the space to be themselves. Always having a story or anecdote to tell. A very talented artist and creator of things.
My dad, Robin, lived with Parkinson’s Disease for the last twenty odd years of his life, but always tried not to let it get him down and despite all he had to deal with, still made room for other people if it was needed.
When I started to think that I might want to start a business, I was trying to think of a name. As soon as I decided to name it after my dad, so many ideas came to me and I actually felt as though this was something I could have a go at with room to grow going forward. And so, Robin’s it is.
Hopefully, you will find something here that will speak to you, whichever ‘you’ you are at the moment.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website!
